Benjamin Franklin- American Scientist and Encyclopedist
He has researched on his own example the general problem of a human communication. He left many useful and practical
recommendations.
" I have taken for the rule to ignore the straight contradiction of other people's thinking and also with self confidence to
settle my own point of view. I have even forbade myself to use any words that would pass a solid thought. For example, " of
course", "undoubted", and etc...; instead of those terms I have used : " I think so", " I am afraid so", " probably", and " it
seems to me".
When other people have established something, that it seemed to me as a mistake, I have denied myself in a pleasure of
contradicting and immediately to show the absurd to their establishments, but I have began my own answer with the
observation, that in a certain rules and under the known obstacles this idea would have been correct. However, in a given
situation it seems to me or presented, that things are proceeding otherwise and etc... Soon, I was convinced in an
advantage of the new manner: my conversations with other people started to go more nicer and smoother".
